Foreign. Here we are. Ask us anything. We are back. Don't forget we have our long episodes long.
They're 10 minutes long on Fridays and that's where we go over lots of key tactics, tips, whatever. But this episode, super short. And we try to tackle weak questions. In all week long we get in work questions and we get ridiculous questions.
In all week long we try to tackle one work question and one ridiculous question on ask us anything. So we're going to do that right now. Let's jump into it. So we got a question in this week from Kathy from Boston, Massachusetts. Love Boston.
If it didn't get cold, I would live in Boston. But the problem is it gets cold so I won't live there. I live in Florida. Sorry. Boston. Love Boston though. So anyway, Kathy asks a question.
This is a good question. Are email signatures important? I love this question because this is something going on in my organization right now.
We're in a big redo of all of our email signatures. So first of all, what is an email signature? An email signature is basically that thing when you open up an email, you get it from.
It's a one to one email. When I email you, you email me. After we say, hey, how you doing? Whatever.
There's a signature on the email and it's generally, you know, a block of text that may include some images and links. And it is, you know, your phone number, it is your email address, it's a link to your LinkedIn account, maybe your Instagram account.
It's your email signature that's included in every message that you send out. Now is it important? It's super important. And do we pay attention to it? No, we don't.
I saw some of these stats that are out there and here's one that kind of like was really upsetting to me and I don't do it. This is a fail on my part. I'm part of the people that are failing. So I'm working on this.
Less than 50% of professionals track the performance of their email signatures. I'm part of that group. I am going to work on this. Now.
Another stat I saw was that this from Mail moto is that call to actions asking the person to do something in your email signature of any kind, any type of call to action. A call to action email signature is included 52% of the times. I'll tell you, I don't do that.
But I need to be doing that because click through rates are bananas in your email signatures. Click through rates. And we looked at this in detail. Click through rates are over 7% in a lot of cases.
If you have enough links in there, 7% click through rate on your email signature. That's against emails that get opened. That's against emails that get opened. So that's crazy high.
So what you have in your email signature is super, super valuable. The other stat that I didn't even realize was a thing. I'm embarrassed to say I didn't realize a thing.
There is something called email signature marketing that is a thing. Now I know you can put marking in your email signature. I just didn't know it was a thing. Right.
So when we talk about email signature marketing, adding a banner ad under your email signature can increase your click throughs within your one to one emails by over 25%.
Now a banner ad under like, you know, your name, your phone number, all that stuff, a banner, it could be promoting an event, it could be promoting a piece of content, it could be promoting, you know, a free trial, a discount or a latest webinar, whatever it is. If you're not really thinking about your email signature, you are missing out.
On average, people change their email signatures two to three times a year, which frankly is probably not even enough. So big initiative within my own organization. Wow. We got to start tracking everything that's going on our email signature.
We got to rethink what we're putting in there. We got to put call to actions in there. We got going to start using banner ads in our email signatures. So email signatures for the win.
All right, before we get into the ridiculous question, I want to share with you that this podcast is exclusively presented by Marigold. Now, Marigold is my platform that I use to send out my email from my company.
And I got to tell you something, so often marketers struggle with their different platforms. It could be any kind of platform they use and they're always on the hunt for I gotta find the next platform.
I gotta find a platform that's good for me. I'm telling you right now, I'm not looking for another platform because I actually like the platform that we use to send out our email.
My whole team likes using it. We send out billions of emails. But when we started using Marigold, we were, we weren't sending out a lot.
It is for small marketers, medium sized marketers, large marketers.
If you're sending out email, if you have a loyalty program, if you're launching a relationship marketing program, if you've not considered Marigold, you are failing. Check them out. Great platform. You could find all the information@meet marigold.com I'm telling you, it is worth checking them out.
Meet marigold.com all right, now let's get on to the ridiculous question this week. And the ridiculous question came in from Todd from St. Paul, Minnesota. I have been to Minnesota many times. It is very cold.
Love Minnesota for like the six weeks out of the year that they have great weather, amazing. But it's very cold. I'm sorry, I don't know. I don't tell you. It's cold anyway. Not the question though. The question is from Todd. What is the question?
If you could wipe from your brain any TV series and watch it over again, which one would it be? Well, that's a no brainer for me. That's the easiest question in the world. And. And it is Sons of Anarchy.
Sons of Anarchy, which is about like this biker gang. And if you haven't seen it, I don't know what you're doing. Sons of Anarchy is the greatest show of all time.
You had Jax Teller and you had Opie and you had all these characters. It was awesome. Now some of you can probably, I don't know, Sopranos or Friends now, come on, I'll tell you. And I get made fun of a lot.
And I got to work on this. I have never seen an episode of Game of Thrones.
I have never seen an episode of the Wire which everybody on planet Earth tells me those are like two of the greatest series of all time. So I don't know, maybe I'll check them out. I don't know, maybe I will. But Sons of Anarchy, watch it from the beginning. If you haven't seen it.
This is my gift, you greatest show of all. I'm all right. So make sure to check out our Friday episode. We're going to share some awesome stuff. They're only 10 minutes long.
